Although, teething does not appear at the same age for all the babies. It starts teething in babies around 4 to 12 months. All 20 teeth known as primary teeth, 10 in each jaw comes within 2 to 3 years. This process is called teething in babies.

What works best while soothing your fussy baby depends. You may need to try several things to help your baby to feel better while teething time.

Often, something cold in your baby’s mouth can help like pacifiers, spoon, clean wet washcloth, a solid refrigerated toy or rings but remember don’t use too cold.

  • Wash your hands and clean rub your baby’s gums a few times a day.
  • Give something to chew like sugar-free rusk.
  • Baby can suck a moderately cold but not frozen teething rings and dummy.
  • Give some soft foods to chew.
  • A hard unsweetened teething cracker can be comfortable.

Things to avoid

  • Teething gels may be harmful as the baby can swallow it!
  • Amber teething beads, also harmful if these break apart. Supervise your baby if you choose amber beads for chewing purpose
  • Avoid homeopathic teething tablets or take doctor advice before using these.

How to take care of baby’s teeth and gums

It’s very important to take care of the baby’s gum before the first tooth appears. Wipe them gently a few times in a day with the help of damp facecloth or gauze.

You can massage her teeth with your clean finger, and let your baby gnaw on your fingers. Try dipping your fingers in cold water and give a gentle massage baby’s gums before feeding. This make your nipples safe from bitting.
