You have chosen to breastfeed. That’s a super-duper idea! Now it’s important to have the right breast pump in hand. To all new mothers, pumping is very efficient in keeping your breast milk supply intact. Next on the list, it also saves you many breastmilk stashes and much more! That’s why it’s important to choose the right pump! Breast pumping inspires me to write about Spectra S1 Vs S2!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a working mom, a freelancer (a home-based job-I love the most), or a housewife, a pump is a great tool to have with you! But you must know the difference between Spectra breast pumps — s1 vs s2 — which one to go with?
Obviously, there are many brands and options to consider, which is enough to create confusion while choosing. Below, I have explained all the features of Spectra S1 vs S2.
SPECTRA S1 Vs S2 – Which one is the best?
In short, you will find only two main differences between Spectra pumps – First-Price and Second-Battery. The S1 and S2 are double breast pump models. The double pump makes it easy to pump both of our breasts at one go. Plus each has a “massage mode” to help the milk letdown reflex and also has an expression mode.
1. Features of both models:-
- An Auto timer which is useful to know when will you stop pumping.
- A backlight-you can see the setting and the time even if it is dark at night.
- Both have adjustable suction control.
- These pumps have the ability to check and see for how many hours you’re pumping.
- Two years warranty from date of purchase.
2. What makes the spectra pumps so great?
- It has a Hospital-grade strength motor.
- Performance with maximum suction strength.
- It can be used as a single or a double pump.
- Low noise.
- light in weight.
- BPA free parts/.
- The suction can be adjustable in let-down or expression mode.
- closed system pump.
- You can set speed and rhythm- the most effective for your body.
- 2 level built-in-light.
About Massage & Expression Mode
One of my best features is ‘the spectra pump’s setting’. This one feature makes it unique compared to the other models available in the local market. It has the ability to control the pump cycle due to Massage and an Expression mode.
The pump starts with massage mode. A short & sweet designed to stimulate the body’s letdown reflex like a baby sucks your nipple at the start of feeding time.
After then it will switch on expression mode, a deep and slow pattern that mimics how your baby nurses when your milk has let-down.
The main theme of this mode is that you can switch back and forth between the two – what mother finds very helpful.
3. Differences between Spectra S1 and S2:-
The main two differences between both pumps are – rechargeable battery and size:-
What are the Pros of Spectra Breasts Pump?
The three major benefits of Spectra Breast pump cited by users are comfort, noise level, and customer service.
Many moms share their experience regarding spectra pumps(including myself) that their pumps were much gentler than other brands they ever used. Spectra pumps are most stylish and kinder to the nipples.
These pumps have a very low density of noise. The spectra website itself states that the pumps are about 45 decibels- lower voice than refrigerator and computer. One of my friends used it during conference calls and no one could guess it.
Spectra customer care is exclusive, helpful, and more responsible. Once I lost my pump suction, they sent me a new one immediately on my request.
What are the cons of Spectra Breast pumps?
One main disadvantage of the spectra pump is – its parts! It is very difficult to find substitute parts in local stores. If you’re in need of any part, you can’t run to buy it anywhere like some other brands. Sad to hear but it’s a big problem with spectra brand.
Nothing to worry, you can solve the issue – buy a few extra sets from Amazon when you buy your pump. sound great! It’s always a good idea to have some extra on hand.
4. Comparison between Spectra pumps and Medela pumps!
- Spectra S2 is same to same as Medela Pump in size
- Both have rechargeable batteries
- These are easy to move around with
- The pumps have a clip you can attach to your pants but S1 has a handle
I know you’re here because you want to buy one. I also made hours of researches to find the best one when I was breastfeeding mom(my boobs are overloaded all the time).
Nothing to worry about Spectra S1 and S2 are the best models you can get in your budget. Medela pumps are $50 to $80 more than Spectra models. Really, it’s a high range of pumps.
You know like our mobile phone, a rechargeable battery (spectra S1 pump)makes our life easy and comfortable. The situations are not always the same. It’s not easy to find an outlet outdoors. Even if you do, it’s tad-bit uncomfortable.
So, I recommend only Spectra S1 (my favorite breast pumping tool).
But it depends on what you are using your pump for? Not all moms have a need for the battery. Then Spectra S2 is a great choice for them (super low price, effective pump).
If your insurance policy covers for S2. Check it and see if there is any possibility to upgrade this for S1. Some insurance companies offer the ability to pay the price difference between the basic pump and an upgraded pump. Aeroflow breast pumps will walk you through the said policy.
